Pedram Diba

Diba is an Iranian-American composer, currently residing in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. His professional history includes awards such as first-prize winner at the Frost International Composition Competition, third-prize winner of the Golden Key International Composition Competition, and the honorable mention for the Elevate Ensemble international call for scores. He was also given the “Outstanding Undergraduate Composer” award by the University of Oregon School of Music and Dance's composition area. His works have been performed in Perth, Vienna, Oregon (by the Tai-Hei Ensemble, Pacific Northwest Contemporary Orchestra, ECCE Ensemble, Pacific Rim Gamelan, and the OCF ensemble), Florida (by White Ibis New Music Ensemble), and Boston (by contraBAND New Music Ensemble as part of New Music Gathering 2018). Currently, Diba is a master student at the Schulich School of Music of McGill University, where he studies instrumental music with Philippe Leroux and digital music with Sean Ferguson.

Oregon Connection: Diba lived in Oregon for 7 years; 2 years in Portland, and 5 years in Eugene. He moved to Eugene to join the music composition program at the University of Oregon, where he graduated in 2017.
