Art Resnick

Until recently I have been a jazz performer/composer. I have classical training and my original style combines the two forms in what has been called a unique approach. My early influences ranged from John Coltrane to Samuel Barber. From Herbie Hancock to Stravinski, Prokofief, etc. My musical sense comes from the many places I've lived and taught including New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Paris France, and San Diego. Most of my teaching has been at the college level as Artist in Residence.

Representative WorksJazz Sonata for Soprano Sax and Piano II (2011), Juxtapositions for Violin and Piano (2011), Experimentality, String Quartet (2011)

Oregon Connection: I moved to Portland from Paris, FR 23 years ago. I have appeared as ensemble leader and jazz pianist at several venues throughout Oregon and Washington offering my original jazz compositions. About 4-5 years ago I joined the Cascadia Composers chapter of the National Association of Composers USA and have been active composing modern classical piano and chamber music ever since with the opportunity of having it performed in concerts.
