Ryan Meagher is perhaps best-known for his own brand of alt-rock jazz which contains vestiges of his angsty, suburban garage band roots; but his compositions can also be simple and pretty; intricate and complex; free and spirited; powerful and moving. He is a composer with many tools in his belt and is not afraid to use any of them at any time.

Oregon Connection: Ryan Meagher is a recent transplant to the Portland jazz scene from New York City. Since his arrival he has released his third album of original jazz music on an internationally distributed label. He is now the Director of Operations for the Portland Jazz Composers' Ensemble (the leading organization in Oregon promoting new jazz works), as well as a contributing composer and its current guitar chair. He has also hosted several Jazz Composers' Jam Sessions in the Portland area.
