Texu Kim’s compositional outlook reflects a blend of positivity and curiosity in the world around him. Much of his music involves his fascination with everyday objects and sounds, as well as his interest in various musical traditions such as Classical, Jazz, and Non-Western music including that of his native South Korea. Somewhat unconventional combinations of these influences in his music might be attributed to his rich experience as an arranger/orchestrator, and his first major in chemistry - he won the silver medal at the International Chemistry Olympiad in Melbourne, Australia, in 1998.
